Fairy tale places, do exist!

Hello everyone 🙂

I thought to bring some colours into the winter, that’s why I will take you with me to the beautiful town of Colmar.

Have you ever wondered how it would be to live in a fairy tale? Well.. if you visit Colmar you will definitely find out! It is the perfect destination for a two day trip if you want to relax and watch some beauty around you.

This colourful french town is in Alsace, very close to Strasbourg.

It is the best choice for couples since the ” Little Venice”area (as they call it) is unbelievable romantic.

But enough with me writing about it, the photos below speak for themselves..

Enjoy 😉

Considering moving abroad? Do it !

Hello everyone and welcome to my first post!

I’ve decided, for my first blog post, to share a personal experience that maybe could help and inspire you to make similar decisions.

I am from Greece and I moved to Germany 1,5 year ago. I will be honest with you. It’s not easy. Not easy at all, especially when you don’t have relatives or friends who could help you adjust yourself in the new environment.

Ok, I might speak from the safe side because my boyfriend was already in Germany when I moved here and this made everything much easier for me.

How and why I decided to move abroad?

The situation in Greece, as you may already know, is very difficult the last few years, especially for the young people. We have to stay in our parents house because we are not able to rent our own apartment, we can hardly find a job and we are not able to dream or live with dignity.

I have studied economics and the last two years in Greece, I was working as an accountant assistant at a cafeteria. My boyfriend had already moved abroad and after a year I started thinking about it too.
One day I went back to the cafeteria for the regular weekly inventory, so I started chatting with my colleagues about my thoughts and fears of moving abroad. I remember one of my colleagues saying “Thalia , just go. Do you want to stay here your whole life counting snacks?”. I know, it sounds weird but this phrase influenced me so much that I just thought “Oh my, he is so right, why should I stay here?” In the worst case scenario I could always move back . So, I took the decision.

Is it worth it?  Yes.

It’s very hard to leave your family and friends, but if you are not happy, if something is bothering you, if you are sad without any particular reason, if you feel that something is missing, then it’s time to make your decisions. Do itIt’s gonna be hard at the beginning, but definitely better than what you are living now.

At first, you will miss your home, your family, your country, the way of lifestyle you used to have, plus you will have to learn how to speak a new language which is challenging.

This sounds tough but is called living, isn’t it? You will get to know new people from all around the world, you are going to have a decent job, you will live at your own house, you will be independent, you will start living.

A year ago, I moved to Germany and I have already visited 4 countries, and 10 different cities in Europe. I would never have done that if I was still in Greece, living in misery. I would have never left my parents’ house, I wouldn’t have a job that corresponds to my studies, I wouldn’t be independent.

Here are 6 positive points of moving abroad:

  • You will get to know interesting people from all over the world.
  • You will learn how to speak a new language.
  • You will earn higher salary.
  • You will have the chance to travel more.
  • You will experience a new culture.
  • And of course, personal growth.

So, if you’re still thinking about it, take the decision, take the risk, don’t waste more time living in a way that makes you miserable. You’re going to see, that every time you’ll visit your home country , everything will be the same as it was before, nothing changes and you are not missing out on anything being abroad. Of course, in case anything goes wrong you could always return back to your home. It will be there.

No one has regretted moving abroad but many have regretted staying behind.

More posts regarding this topic will come in the future.

Please leave your comments and I will be happy to answer 🙂 I would love to read about your experiences and thoughts on this.

Thank you,

Thalia
